NATIONAL YOUNG LEADERS DAY

This week our school’s Whanau-House Leaders joined student leaders from other primary and intermediate schools at the National Young Leaders Day (NYLD) at Te Rauparaha Arena.

The objective of the day was to motivate and empower them to make a positive leadership contribution to our school and inspire them to continue developing leadership skills throughout life.

The event included motivational talks from great New Zealand leaders, question times, videos, music and interactive activities. The exciting line-up of speakers included a former MP and mayor, an extreme endurance athlete and business owner, an equestrian clinician and author, a musician, and a Year 13 student who is an ocean advocate.

The team is working on a presentation about leadership for their schoolmates and a post for the Whanau-House blog.

Thank you to the always-supportive Home & School for funding the trip and to Treasuring Hearts Photography for the photos.

Art and Maths from Room 1

During Term 1 Room 1 created paintings using George Serat's style of painting called Pointillism.

At the beginning of Term 2, maths became very interesting as the students looked at maths in a different way -looking for number patterns.

Click on the painting to see the movie.

ANZAC Poppies

During the last week of term 1 Room 1 knitted poppies to wear on ANZAC Day.

We were very lucky to have mums and grandmothers come in and help us.
