Room 3 : Colour Day

Today,  Room 3 made some cards with messages of support for the people of Christchurch.  Students came in dressed in their bright colours and gave a donation.  One student sold DVDs and raised over $90 to donate.  Awesome support, Room 3!

Middle Syndicate Trip to Ngā hau e whā o Paparārangi and hīkoi along the Wellington Harbour Escarpment

Thursday 28 Feb and Tuesday 5 March saw the Middle Syndicate be welcomed onto Ngā hau e whā e Paparārangi.  The whakatau was an amazing experience.  We were very proud of three Year six boys who supported us in speaking.  Some of our past students were part of the tangata whenua, it was encouraging for us seeing them there.  After the whakatau we heard stories of Wellington Harbour and explored the native plants surrounding the marae.  We are grateful to the marae whanau, Whaea Amanda, Whaea Lena and the Newlands Intermediate students and our parents/caregivers for coming with us.
After eating our lunch we left the marae and walked along the Te Ara Paparārangi track.  We saw lots of native plants, cicadas and even a piwakawaka.

Te ngahere o ngā tamariki Room 4 and Room 8

This week Room 4 and 8 visited Te ngahere o ngā tamariki.  We wrote poems about what we could see, hear and smell.  We thought the outside classroom was amazing and we really enjoyed visiting it.

Helicopter seeds in Room 15

Room 16's self portraits

Look at these amazing paintings we did of ourselves!

What an awesome start to the year, Room 9 has had!  We have been on many adventures around our school and even a trip up to Waikanae with all our friends!  We can't wait to see what the rest of the term holds as we grow in numbers with some new buddies starting in the next few weeks.

Room 1 Camp Art

With Mrs Pinchin we constructed camp art out of pieces of nature. We designed pictures related to camping.

Room 1 cooks on a camp fire.

On Friday morning we had a combined Te Reo and Camp lesson with Whaea Adrienne.  We cooked tāhōhō on a rākau over an ahi.  Then we placed the tāhōhō between two pihikete. They tasted lovely.
