Middle Syndicate Trip to Ngā hau e whā o Paparārangi and hīkoi along the Wellington Harbour Escarpment

Thursday 28 Feb and Tuesday 5 March saw the Middle Syndicate be welcomed onto Ngā hau e whā e Paparārangi.  The whakatau was an amazing experience.  We were very proud of three Year six boys who supported us in speaking.  Some of our past students were part of the tangata whenua, it was encouraging for us seeing them there.  After the whakatau we heard stories of Wellington Harbour and explored the native plants surrounding the marae.  We are grateful to the marae whanau, Whaea Amanda, Whaea Lena and the Newlands Intermediate students and our parents/caregivers for coming with us.
After eating our lunch we left the marae and walked along the Te Ara Paparārangi track.  We saw lots of native plants, cicadas and even a piwakawaka.
